Emotion
a woman getting out at the airport said she hoped i got to go somewhere nice soon too. not in a rude way, she was lovely, tipped and everything, but it hit me sideways. i had been telling her all the good places to eat and she asked where i went on vacation and i made my usual joke about the gas station. then she was gone with her suitcase and i was mad at nobody. i wanted to be the person being dropped off for once, with somebody asking if i'd packed a charger. my sister sent a picture of her kid wearing my sunglasses while i was waiting in the lot and i laughed. still wanted the suitcase, though
Mind
listened to a podcast where they spent half an hour describing a suspect's car and i caught myself deciding he must have done it because he drove like an asshole. which is not evidence, obviously, or vegas would need another hundred jails. i do the same thing with passengers, nice shoes means convention, no eye contact means trouble, and then somebody wrecks the whole theory by being normal. the episode was still on when i parked and i replayed the part about the time he left. that was actually interesting, two people remembered different things. i wish they'd spent more time on that and less on whether his neighbors liked him
Body
day off and my niece wanted me on the playground slide, which is apparently built for people without hips. i got halfway down and my sneakers stopped me so hard she started laughing before i did. after that we did the swings and i forgot how your stomach lifts on the way forward, even when you're not going high. my back felt less folded up than it does getting out of the camry and i stayed out there longer than planned. came home with warm legs and sand inside one shoe, exhausted in a way that did not involve staring through a windshield. still had the seat belt mark on my shirt from the drive over, of course lol
