Emotion
One of my regulars brought his wife in just to show her the studio. He's been telling her about us for months, and when he introduced me he said this is where I started looking forward to mornings again. Man, that got me! I was ready to joke about the music and ended up having to clear my throat instead. We talk so much while he's here that I forget he spends most of the rest of his day alone until she gets home. I felt proud and a little protective of him, which he definitely does not need announced in front of his wife. So I showed her around and let him explain his favorite exercise. He explained it better than I would have.
Body
Took the kids' basketball out after dinner and discovered my jump shot has not improved during the years I wasn't practicing it! My legs felt springy for the first few minutes and then I started noticing all the stopping and turning. Different from the steady work I do in the studio. I was breathing hard enough that my teenager asked if I needed a sub, which was rich coming from somebody who had just missed three shots. We slowed down and kept playing until my shirt was soaked. Sitting on the porch afterward, I could still feel that warm buzzing in my thighs. Good tired! Terrible shooting, though. That part is confirmed.
Mind
My wife asked what I actually mean when I say we'd have more family time if we opened another studio. Fair question! In my head the new place has somebody good running it from day one, while the original place somehow needs less of me. On paper there's hiring and another lease and a whole lot I haven't put on my little napkin plan. I still like the idea. I also like being home for dinner, and those aren't automatically the same plan just because I keep saying they are. Tonight I drew two weekly schedules instead of another floor layout. Both have me in two places on Tuesday. Going to need a bigger adjustment than a second napkin.
