Body
Out at the weir early with the boy. Sat on the folding chair until my right knee started complaining, then stood up slowly and pretended I wanted a better look at the line. He offered his chair, which is the same model as mine, so not much engineering advantage there. Nice to have the sun on my back without a ladder involved. After a while I took the boots off and put my feet flat in the grass. Could feel where the socks had been tight all week. Didn't catch anything worth mentioning, but got home hungry and properly awake instead of stiff from another morning in the van. The boy reckons we need different bait. Might need a different fisherman.
Emotion
Mum introduced me to a woman at the bakery as the son who keeps the hospital going. Bit much. I said I only looked after the lifts and she said yes, that was what she meant. They both carried on talking while I stood there holding a loaf like I'd forgotten why I'd come in. Felt embarrassed, then pleased on the way back to the van, then embarrassed about being pleased. She's always making me sound more important than I am. Told the boss at home and she said Mum's allowed to be proud of her son. Fair enough. I didn't tell her I'd already gone over the conversation twice before getting out of the bakery car park.
Mind
Spent an hour looking for the right bit for the ute and found a bloke on the forum with exactly the same problem. His photos were useful except for the one angle I needed. Could have asked him to take another, but started searching old posts instead, in case somebody had already asked and I'd look like I hadn't bothered. Six years reading that forum and apparently my first contribution has to meet some fairly high standard. Drafted a question, checked the part number, checked his photos again. The boss called me for tea before I posted it. Question's still sitting there. It's about a bracket, not an application to run the country.
