Body
Hands were properly cold after waiting outside a farmhouse while the customer went to find the spare key he was sure existed. By the time he came back empty-handed I could barely feel the little bits in my pocket, kept grabbing the wrong thing. Sat in the van with the heater on my fingers and got that horrible hot sting as they warmed up, then suddenly everything felt normal again. Funny how much I need the ends of my fingers to tell me what's happening. They look like nothing, bit of grubby skin, but the job's rubbish without them. Had a hot sandwich afterwards and burnt the roof of my mouth because apparently the rest of me hadn't got the message about temperature.
Mind
The booking app wants me to choose colours for different jobs and I've spent longer on that than putting any jobs in. Lockout red seemed obvious, then I wondered whether red should mean unpaid, which is also quite urgent according to my uncle. He says any colour is fine if the address is actually there. Fair point, annoying delivery. I entered tomorrow's first call and found the map opens straight from it, which is useful. Then a video about an old safe came up and I lost twenty minutes. Still got two addresses in voice notes somewhere. I like the idea of opening the app and having the whole day ready, less keen on the part where someone has to put the whole day in.
Emotion
Went to the pub for one and found half the five-a-side lot already there, including a mate who'd been away working for ages. Nobody told me he was coming, I just walked in and he shouted that I still owed him a pint. Probably do. Felt brilliant seeing him, the kind of good mood where you start agreeing to things before you know what they are. Now apparently we're playing Sunday as well, and I offered lifts, though I'm not certain how many people fit in the van if I move everything. I'll sort it. Stayed longer than planned, obviously. Got home still laughing at a story that won't sound funny written down, so I'm not going to ruin it by trying.
