Body
I stayed seated at the kitchen table after my morning prayer, hands around a cup that had cooled enough to hold comfortably. Usually I am already moving toward the next thing before I've finished, but the house was quiet and I could feel how tightly I had been pressing my feet into the floor. Letting them rest took a conscious effort. My shoulders settled a little too, though the right one still felt higher when I turned my head. Nothing remarkable happened. I drank the tea slowly and noticed I was hungry, a plain enough message I often overlook until I'm in the car. Made toast before getting dressed. The morning went on perfectly well with the extra ten minutes.
Mind
A receptionist told me she keeps a paper list beside the new system because she doesn't trust the handoff at lunch. My first thought was duplication, something we could remove from the process. Then she showed me what happens when the next person logs in: several pending items aren't obvious on the opening screen. Her extra list is doing a job the official process hasn't accounted for. I'm trying to map that without making her sound resistant to change or promising that a screen adjustment will fix everything. There may be more to it. I have three interviews tomorrow, and I want to ask what people keep outside the system before I ask what we can simplify.
Emotion
Found my old hospital badge in a drawer while looking for a charger. The photograph is unflattering, but I could remember exactly how it felt to walk in wearing it and know who needed what from me. I was angry all over again about how that job ended. Not devastated, not looking for a lesson, just angry that so many years became a meeting and a packet of information. I have good work now and people have been kind. That does not cancel what happened. I put the badge back instead of throwing it away. Then called my sister and told her why I was irritated before she had to guess. She remembered the day more clearly than I expected.
