Body
Rode home into the lake wind and kept changing my grip because my fingers were cooling faster than the rest of me. Still warm through the shoulders from the shift, cold across the knuckles, which is a weird combination until I unzip a little and settle into the ride. Took the quieter way instead of pushing the pace between lights. At the house I could feel the effort in my thighs when I lifted the bike over the doorstep, but it was the decent kind of tired, no sharp surprises. One housemate had rice on. I stood by the stove eating a spoonful while my hands warmed up. Not elegant, very effective.
Emotion
My partner fell asleep halfway through our Sunday breakfast at home, fork down, eyes trying to stay open because she was still asking about my class. I was disappointed. We'd finally got the same few hours free and I had been looking forward to talking without checking a clock. Also, she was obviously done in, not choosing to be boring at me. I put the rest away and sat beside her for a bit. She woke enough to apologise and I said it was fine, which was mostly true. I wanted more of the morning than we got. Made myself another coffee and ate the last pancake without sharing it.
Mind
In class I can picture the shape we're working out, but I get stuck turning it into the written calculation. Once somebody draws the angle on the piece, I know where we are. On a page I keep checking whether I've used the right side, then checking again until I've forgotten why I chose it. Tried making a rough sketch before touching the numbers. Messier notes, much clearer problem. I don't want someone to give me the answer just so I can keep up with the room. I want to be able to look at the number afterwards and know whether it makes sense. Going to bring the sketch to the next class and ask about that step.
