Mind
Trying to work out a family day at the beach without making it a military operation, apparently I am the only person who thinks lunch needs a plan. The fourteen-year-old wants to bring a friend, the wee one wants the dog, and he says just chuck everyone in and go. Sweet as, except everyone does not fit in one seat. I've got two possible dates and one page of things we need, mostly towels that will come home full of sand. I keep looking at the forecast even though it's too early to mean much. Would be lovely to hear waves for an afternoon instead of someone asking where the tape dispenser has gone.
Body
Had a proper warm-up before netball and still felt like an old gate for the first few minutes, then the passes started coming and I stopped noticing every bit of myself. Love that moment when I get off the ground without having to talk myself into it. I was puffing heaps by the break, sweat running behind my ears, and the water tasted better than anything in the fridge at home. Strapped knee behaved reasonably well. Afterward I sat with my shoes off while the younger ones talked about going somewhere else. Yeah nah, I wanted my shower and a piece of toast. Got both, and the toast never argued with the umpire.
Emotion
My youngest wanted her dad to hear the song we're doing with the church kids, so she stood in front of his chair and started, actions and all. He put his phone down and joined in the wrong places on purpose. She was laughing too much to finish. I felt so happy watching them, then caught myself about to turn it into an invitation for Sunday. For once I left it alone. They were having their own lovely time and didn't need me organising the next one. Lord, thank You for that ridiculous noise in the lounge. He still has the tune stuck in his head and says it's my fault, which is probably fair.
