Body
Swam this morning without timing any of it. Same pool, same early light, but I kept wanting to turn it into a set and had to remind myself nobody needed a result. My shoulder felt fine once I was warm, and on the easier lengths I could notice the water along my ribs instead of checking what my arms were doing. Stayed in a little longer than planned. Then the usual tight skin after the shower, and I realised the moisturiser was in the other bag. Three bags of equipment and the one small thing I wanted wasn't there. Bought breakfast with wet hair dripping down my back. Very glamorous start to a coaching career.
Emotion
One of the adult learners told me she had gone into the pool with her grandchildren at the weekend instead of sitting beside their bags. She said it quite casually, then started laughing about how much noise they made. I was so happy I nearly interrupted to congratulate her, but she hadn't finished the story. The nice part was that she was talking about an outing, not a lesson, not whether she'd passed something. Later a junior swimmer's timing went backwards and I spent too long feeling disappointed. Both happened in the same day. I can say medals aren't everything and still get caught up in the numbers, lah.
Mind
Mum asked whether I actually want to go on another date with the man I've been messaging, or whether I just want to prove my schedule isn't impossible. Very inconvenient question over dinner. I had been comparing his free evenings with my early starts as if the right combination would tell me whether I liked him. We had a decent conversation last time, nothing terrible, nothing I keep remembering either. Maybe that's normal and not every meeting needs a big feeling. But if I'm mostly relieved whenever we can't find a time, that's information too. Haven't replied yet. I can plan six lessons faster than one coffee.
