Body
Played football after a full shift and expected my legs to be finished before we started. The first few runs were heavy, then I warmed up and moved well. I like that feeling when I turn and my feet go where I intended, no delay, no need to think through the movement. Sweat was running down my neck even after we stopped. I sat with water and could feel my breathing slow properly instead of trying to talk over it. By the time I got home I was hungry and pleasantly tired. My son wanted me on the floor with him. I got down there, but getting up again took a little more discussion. Nothing hurting, just a body that had already done plenty for one day.
Emotion
My wife called to say her shift had changed and I immediately asked who would collect our son. She hadn't finished explaining. I could hear her getting tired of my voice, which made me speak even more carefully and somehow sound less kind. We found an arrangement, my sister could help, and the practical problem was over. I stayed tense much longer. I don't like admitting that because it sounds as though I was choosing an argument after everything was settled. I wasn't trying to. When my son came home cheerful and carrying a biscuit, I felt such relief that I was embarrassed. My wife had been worried too. I had not asked her that once during the calls.
Mind
Measured a space for a box to hold my son's toys and made a neat drawing, then realised the box would fit the corner but not open fully under the shelf. The measurements were right. The idea was incomplete. I had checked width and height and forgotten the lid needs somewhere to go. My wife suggested no lid, which removes the problem but leaves the toys visible. She says they are toys, not evidence. I am considering it. A simple open box might actually be easier for him to use, and I would rather he put things away than admire my drawing. Need to measure the shelf again before buying anything. The cardboard version is already full of cars.
