saw a used boat listed and had the whole summer sorted in my head before i even looked at where it was, then noticed the trailer wasnt included. now thats a hell of a detail to put right at the bottom. i started adding what it would take to fetch it and Tanya said add where youre keeping it, which she has apparently been waiting years to say. still think its a decent boat but a decent boat sitting somewhere else is not the same as a deal in my driveway. sent the picture to a buddy anyway, told him i was only looking. he sent back a picture of the last one i was only looking at. people remember the wrong things around here

my oldest called just to tell me a funny thing from work, no problem to fix and no money question, and i was right pleased about that. then i nearly spoiled it by telling a longer story about the plant before she had finished hers, heard her go quiet and had to stop myself. said go on kid i missed the last bit, she laughed and told it again. after we hung up i wanted to call somebody and say she rang, like she never rings, which isnt fair because she does. i just liked being the person she thought would laugh at it. Tanya asked what was funny and i couldnt remember the exact words, only the sound of the kid cracking up

woke up early for no damn reason and could not get comfortable again, the old collarbone was pressing into the pillow on one side and the dog had taken the other side like he paid rent, finally got up and stood in the kitchen in my socks with that heavy head you get from half a sleep. Tanya said come sit outside while she had her coffee so i did, sun on my knees and a cool bit of air under the awning, ten minutes later i was yawning properly instead of just feeling thick. went back in and slept another hour, dog had moved by then. could have done that to start with buddy but he doesnt take requests
