Body
Anyway, curling was apparently enough exercise to make every chair in the office too low this morning. I went to stand up and felt it all through the fronts of my thighs, then sat back down because I'd forgotten the letter I was getting up to mail. Excellent start. Once I was walking it was fine, cold air in my nose and my lunch sitting a bit heavily where lunch usually sits. The old collarbone bump caught against my shirt when I reached for a shelf, which reminded me I'd promised to stop showing it to people as a conversation starter. By supper I was mostly normal. The skip says this is what happens when the seniors outlast you.
Emotion
My girlfriend came to watch us curl and the guys were unbearable, naturally. I was pleased she came, then embarrassed by how pleased, so I made about six unnecessary jokes before we even started. She stayed afterward and talked to people without needing me to introduce every person in the building. On the way out she said she liked seeing me there. I said we're a very prestigious sporting organisation and she told me to accept a nice sentence normally for once. Fair. I was pumped, honestly. Not about the game, we lost that. About her looking comfortable in a place I spend so much time, and wanting to come back.
Mind
The boss mentioned retirement again and I started thinking about the office sign instead of the years of study between me and being allowed to do her job. Very efficient career planning, choose font first. I like the actual work I do now: a task comes in, I know where to start, and I can go home in the town where everybody I like already lives. Does wanting more responsibility mean I have to want the whole other career? People ask about law school like the question has already been answered. I haven't even worked out what I would miss about this job. I meant to look at course information tonight and ended up checking the rink roof fundraiser total.
