Body
Rode the morning loop without gloves because it looked warmer through the kitchen window. The shaded section was still cold enough that I kept taking one hand off the bar and closing it against my jacket. By the second hill my back was warm and my fingers were not. I like that hill once I have been moving for ten minutes. My legs settle into the effort and there is no need to change anything until the top. Came home hungry and ate standing by the stove while K finished her coffee. She had checked the temperature before going outside. I had not. The gloves were on the table beside me.
Emotion
K came home with a bag of apples from a farm visit and told me the farmer had asked after both dogs. I liked that. He has met them twice, and remembered which one gets nervous near the cattle gate. We ate an apple each on the steps while she told me about the call. There was nothing unusual to report and no reason to go inside yet. I was glad she had got home before dark. I said the apples were good, which they were. She put three aside for my lunch and left the rest within reach. One dog watched every bite. The other had gone to sleep across her boots.
Mind
I am trying to work out why the gate catches only when the weather changes. I can lift it clear, but that does not explain which part is moving, and replacing the latch before checking the posts would give me a second variable. Took measurements at both hinges and wrote them down on the back of the feed receipt. K asked whether we were fixing a gate or studying one. Studying it first. The dogs can wait while I lift it for now. I suspect the post nearest the ditch, although I have suspected that post before and it was the hinge screws. I will check those again in daylight.
