Body
Went swimming with my cousin and spent the first lap remembering how to breathe without swallowing half the pool. Great start, former swimming kid! Once I slowed down, my shoulders settled into it and I could feel the water along my ribs every time I turned. No mirrors, no weight to write down, just my arms getting pleasantly heavy. The hip was quiet during the easy lengths, so I stayed with those instead of trying to prove anything with a fast finish. Getting out was weird, legs suddenly heavy again on the wet floor. I was STARVING by the changing room. My cousin said we had barely been in. My stomach disagreed with the timing.
Mind
One of my older clients asked what music I liked when I was a kid, and I named a song from Brazil before I remembered that she'd asked because she wanted a new walking playlist. Now I'm trying to find a version without a ten-minute intro or somebody shouting over the recording. I keep clicking other songs from that year and remembering cousins I haven't seen in ages. Funny how I can forget someone's apartment number and still know the words we sang on their balcony. The playlist is becoming completely wrong for this woman. I'm making her a separate one and keeping this messy one for the drive. She asked for twenty minutes. I'm already over an hour.
Emotion
My girlfriend fell asleep halfway through telling me about her shift. I had been excited to finally have a whole evening together, and for a minute I was annoyed at her for being tired, which is a pretty unfair thing to be annoyed about. Then she woke just enough to ask if I was still there. That got me right in the chest. I said yes and stayed beside her without restarting the conversation. I love her. I can write that easily enough here, but saying it when she's awake and looking at me is somehow harder than yelling it across a gym. The evening was not what I wanted and I was still glad she came. Both things, apparently.
