boss left me to explain the pump shed job to the farmer today
he was standing right there but didnt jump in or do the whole translation into older bloke thing
farmer actually asked me the questions and waited for the answers

said to the fencer later that it was just a normal job, which it was, except ive gone over that bit three times while making dinner
then the dog nicked a piece of meat off the bench and ruined my moment of being the competent adult
not angry with him for long, hard to stay angry with something looking that pleased with itself
i was pretty pleased too to be fair

mum asked what i want done with the uni books still in my old room
first thought was chuck them, not exactly planning a return to lectures
then i remembered one with all the diagrams i actually liked and couldnt remember whether that was the expensive one or the one i borrowed
so now ive told her dont touch anything until i look
bit ridiculous keeping a whole shelf because there might be one decent book on it
ill go round sunday and sort it while she does lunch
probably come home with all of them and have to shift the fencing gear out of the spare room
yeah nah, not adding another box without opening it first

river with the dog after work
only went in to my knees because the water was bloody cold and he kept splashing my shorts anyway
took a while for my feet to stop feeling prickly then it was nice standing there with the stones under them instead of gumboots
threw the stick with my left hand to give the wrist a break, terrible aim apparently, dog looked personally disappointed
sat on the bank drying off and realised how hungry i was
two pies in the chilly bin this morning and somehow neither made it past smoko
sand in my socks now but shoulders feel loose and i could happily stay here another hour
