Body
Folded a whole stack of small towels and my left hand started lagging more near the bottom. Not new. Just annoying when I can see the corner I want and the fingers take their time getting there. Switched tasks for a bit and stretched it out before going back. That laundromat heat makes everything feel slower by afternoon. Outside for the second shift the air woke me up quick. A little kid held up both hands for a high five and I gave him the right, then he waited for the other like we had signed a contract. Gave him that one too. Not much force behind it. He made the sound himself. Loud enough for everybody.
Mind
Lost at chess because I was watching one piece I wanted to take and missed what the old head was setting up across the board. He let me explain my whole plan after the game then pointed to the rook. Yeah. That jawn had been sitting there the whole time. On the corner I can watch kids and turning cars together because I know what I'm looking for. Here I see a good move and start admiring it before I've checked the rest. Tried setting the position up again at home. Mom asked if I was playing myself. Told her I was investigating a crime. She said at least I already knew who did it. Hard crowd in this house.
Emotion
My sister stopped by with groceries and Mom started listing everything I had cooked Sunday like she was nominating me for an award. Told her it was one pot and she was drawlin. Sister said she knew what I made because Mom had sent pictures. Didn't know there was a whole publicity department for my food. Felt good though. Since the stroke people ask how I'm doing so carefully sometimes, like they're waiting for a bad answer. This was just them arguing about who got leftovers. I told my sister there'd be more next week if she showed up before the nephew ate it. She said save some. I'll save some. Might make extra without announcing that part.
