[0810] Got home and sat on the back step to take my shoes off. The dog put his whole warm side against my leg, which meant I stayed there longer than planned, one sock on and one off. My shoulders were still up near my ears even though the shift had ended forty minutes ago. I wasn't worried about a particular call. Just wide awake in the wrong parts, with heavy legs and a jaw that wouldn't quite loosen. The garden needed water. I watched a beetle walk across the hose instead. Eventually the dog moved and I went inside for cereal. Couldn't face cooking eggs, couldn't face going straight to bed either.

J'ai tricoté devant une série pendant presque deux heures, puis j'ai voulu me lever pour faire du thé. Le cou raide, le pied endormi sous moi, le poignet pas content pantoute. Belle installation ergonomique, vraiment. Au travail j'ai une souris spéciale et je déplace mon écran d'un centimètre quand quelque chose tire; dans le salon je me plie autour d'une tuque comme si j'avais encore vingt ans. Ça s'est replacé en marchant dans l'appartement. J'ai quand même laissé le tricot sur la table. Le plus agréable de la soirée aura été de tenir la tasse chaude avec les deux mains sans avoir rien à faire de mes doigts.

A client who's been coming to me since her oldest was a baby booked with the younger stylist on my Friday off. Sensible. Exactly what I told her to do. Then she sent me a picture saying she loved the cut, and I found myself enlarging the back to inspect it. There wasn't a thing wrong with it, which somehow annoyed me more. I wrote back that she looked beautiful because she did. I want my time back, I keep telling everybody that, but apparently I also want them to struggle a little without me. That's not generous. I'm glad she stayed in the salon. Still haven't asked how their appointment went, and normally I'd have asked three questions by now.

throughstone Emotion

The grandchild rang to tell me about a stone found nowhere near our place and wanted to know if it was a good one. I asked what it looked like and got a long account, colours included, very little about the shape. It did me good to listen. I had been out of sorts all afternoon for no useful reason, and there was this child thinking I was the man to ask about a perfectly ordinary stone. I said to keep it till the next visit. Now I'm looking forward to an examination of a pebble, which is a respectable thing for a grandfather to have on his calendar. I hope nobody cleans out the coat pocket before they come.

Am Militärvelo gearbeitet. Für die untere Schraube einen Hocker geholt, statt wie früher auf dem Boden zu knien. Das rechte Knie blieb damit ruhig, beim Aufstehen war es trotzdem erst steif. Zwei Runden durch den Garten, danach normaler Gang. Auffällig, wie kalt die Finger in der Werkstatt werden, obwohl man die ganze Zeit etwas macht. Habe sie vor dem Znüni unter warmes Wasser gehalten. V. meinte, ich hätte schwarze Ränder bis an die Handgelenke. Stimmt. Die Bürste lag daneben. Nach dem Waschen waren die Hände wieder warm genug, um die kleine Mutter zu greifen. Für heute eingebaut, weitere Teile morgen.

Marche ce matin avec l'accompagnateur. On a ralenti près du fleuve parce qu'il voulait regarder un bateau et j'ai pas relancé le chrono tout de suite. Le vent était frais sur les joues, mais j'avais déjà chaud dans le manteau. J'ai défait le col. Mes genoux allaient bien sur le plat, sans cette petite hésitation que j'ai au premier escalier du duplex. Au retour il a proposé un café assis dehors. D'habitude je rentre pour ce qui reste à faire, là mes jambes étaient lourdes juste comme il faut pour rester sur la chaise. Le café a refroidi trop vite. On peut pas tout avoir.

my son came from the mechanic workshop with a small bag of potatoes. he said he saw good ones and remembered home. potatoes are something i can buy myself but i was happy with the way he put the bag beside my stove and waited for me to look. i asked if he had eaten. he said yes and then ate what i gave him. Baba wanted to know how much he paid and i told him to leave the boy. i did not want that visit to become a talk about prices. after he went i opened the bag again. some were too small. i kept them for frying because that is how he likes them and he may come on sunday.

قرنطيطة Body

في الحصة الثالثة كرشي بدات تقرقر والأستاذ يشرح وأنا غير نشوف للباب، صاحبي سمعها وضحك حتى قلبوه للطابلة اللولة ههههه. كي خرجنا شريت القرنطيطة سخونة وكلّيت اللقمة اللولة بسرعة حرقتلي فمي، بقيت نهدر كي اللي حاط حجر تحت لسانه وصاحبي يقولي زيد اشرحلي الفيزياء. من بعد الجوع راح بصح رجليا بقاو يتحركو، قعدت الصباح كامل محبوس في الكرسي وحاب نجري حتى بلا بالون. وصلت للدار طلعت للسطح زوج درجتين زوج، وفي الآخر حبست نهج قدام القفص والحمام كامل يتفرج فيا. الماكلة باينة رجعتلي القوة غير ما رجعتليش النفس.

margincrumbs Mind

I'm drawing the empty shop beside the charity shop again, and keep putting imaginary people in the doorway then rubbing them out. Without people the building looks abandoned; with them I'm pretending I've solved why it closed. A café would look nice on paper, but there are already three nearby and Mum says I can't regenerate a town entirely on cake. Fair. I want to ask the charity shop manager what customers say they miss, rather than invent another tasteful workshop for people like me. The drawing still needs finishing for art, though. Evidence gathering is becoming a very sophisticated way of avoiding the windows.

Mi madre tiene una foto antigua de Tetuán guardada dentro de una bolsa de botones y quiero hacerle una copia. Al verla en el móvil he empezado a recortarla para quitar un borde torcido, luego una silla vacía, luego una mano que entra por un lado. Cada versión quedaba más limpia y menos parecida a la foto que conozco. La mano es de una tía, creo, y mi madre se acuerda perfectamente de quién estaba en esa silla. Me interesa esa diferencia: yo miro lo que estorba en la imagen y ella ve a gente que está casi fuera. Voy a guardar las dos versiones. La original tiene una mancha que aún no sé si es del papel o de la pared.
