天津飯 Emotion

常連の若い子が就職決まった言うて来た。ちっさい頃は椅子に座布団重ねて食べてた子やで、それが仕事帰りに寄れるかなとか言うねん。ほんま嬉しくて大盛りにしたら、今日はそんな食べられへんて笑われた。成長したから腹もでかいとは限らんか（笑）。大将にも聞こえるようにもう一回報告させて、二人でよかったな言うた。帰り際に頭下げられたらこっちが困るわ。普通にまた来たらええ、腹へってる時にな。皿下げる時ちょっと目が熱かった。

little un wanted to sit on the bench in the shed beside me. had to shift the tools first. he put both feet straight out and i did same which gave my knee a rest for once. been standing with most of my weight on the other leg at work and you dont notice till you sit somewhere level. shed was warm with the door open and i could smell the wood where id sanded the edge. hands felt rough against his sleeve when i helped him down. he went straight back up again so we repeated that about eight times. our lass says i should charge for the ride. tea went cold but i was comfortable enough.

brashing Mind

A man at the allotments called a crooked tree useless. Depends what he wanted it for, I said, and he looked surprised that there was any question. I spent enough years judging trees for the work they could give us, straightness and growth and the trouble of getting them out. Still do it without thinking. But this one had a good spread of branches over the path and nobody was asking it for a sawlog. Been turning that over since, not because I've suddenly gone soft on timber, but because I disliked hearing my own old judgement out of his mouth. My partner says I mostly disliked the man. There may be some truth in that as well.

Le marchand de pain était un peu en retard. Je suis restée près du portail avec mon panier, il faisait doux du côté du mur mais l'air passait sur mes chevilles. Au bout d'un moment j'ai posé le panier par terre, même vide son anse me marquait les doigts. J'ai fait quelques pas dans la cour et mes jambes étaient moins raides que devant le portail. Quand le camion est arrivé j'avais chaud sous le gilet. C'est peu de marche, je sais bien, mais je suis rentrée avec les joues chaudes et l'envie de couper le quignon tout de suite. Je l'ai mangé debout avant de ranger le reste.

Mom arrived without texting first while we had friends over for a game. I was glad to see her and annoyed that she had decided for all of us at once. Those feelings were not taking turns politely. She stayed only a few minutes, but afterward I kept wondering whether my greeting had sounded cold. My boyfriend said it sounded surprised, which it was. I called her later and asked her to let us know next time. She said she didn't realise she needed an appointment. That hurt, because I wasn't trying to make her a stranger. I said a text would do. We ended the call normally, but I am still waiting to feel normal about it.

À la chorale, j'ai eu mon radiateur en plein milieu du chant. Tout le monde gardait sa veste et moi je cherchais un peu d'air avec ma feuille, pas très discret. Puis nous avons repris le passage qui demandait de tenir la note, et j'ai senti mon ventre travailler autrement qu'en portant les colis. Le souffle allait jusqu'au bout sans que je monte les épaules. Cela fait du bien quand ça sort comme on voulait. En rentrant, j'avais chaud encore mais plus cette sensation d'être enfermée dans mes vêtements. J'ai bu de l'eau à la cuisine, debout par habitude, puis je me suis assise pour la finir. Le dos était content aussi.

Un ancien élève est repassé devant le collège et m'a saluée par la fenêtre de la loge. Il est beaucoup plus grand, je l'ai reconnu à sa façon de sourire avant même qu'il parle. Il m'a demandé si j'avais toujours la chienne, puis il m'a raconté son apprentissage. Ça m'a fait plaisir qu'il s'arrête alors qu'il n'avait besoin de rien. D'habitude on vient me voir pour une porte, une clé, quelque chose à transmettre. Je lui ai dit que c'était bien et de tenir jusqu'au diplôme. Encore une consigne, il fallait que j'en ajoute une. Il a ri et il est reparti. J'aurais pu lui dire simplement que j'étais contente d'avoir de ses nouvelles.

Wien hat ein Foto von zwei Tassen geschickt, mit der Frage, welche am Wochenende meine sein soll. Eine unvernünftig kleine Nachricht, um sich darüber so zu freuen. Ich kenne beide Tassen und weiß, dass sie sich morgen wieder umentscheiden kann, trotzdem hatte ich plötzlich einen konkreten Platz in ihrer Küche statt nur einer Zugverbindung im Kalender. Habe die blaue gewählt und beinahe einen Witz über Reservierungssysteme ergänzt. Gelöscht. Sie schrieb, die hätte sie ohnehin hingestellt. Seitdem sehe ich beim Packen nicht die Verspätungsanzeige vor mir, sondern den Küchentisch. Das ist angenehm. Es braucht keine zusätzliche Auswertung.

My wife brought home a box of things from the school library and looked pleased to be clearing her desk before retirement. I was pleased for her until she asked which cupboard she could have. Apparently I have filled the spare room with equipment I might need. I heard myself defending a wobble board neither of us uses, and we both laughed, though I was still annoyed. Her leaving work feels real when there is a box in the hallway. Mine remains a conversation about three days a week. I would like to be as excited as she is. Mostly I want her to stop asking whether I am excited yet.

Die Kleine wollte die Schillingmünzen wieder sehen. Sie weiß inzwischen, welche doppelt sind, und hat mich darauf hingewiesen, dass meine Aufstellung nicht vollständig ist. Eine Frechheit, allerdings eine zutreffende. Wir haben die Dose gemeinsam ausgeleert. Sie hat jede Münze sorgfältig hingelegt und bei einer besonders abgenutzten gefragt, wie viele Leute die wohl schon gehabt hätten. Keine Zahl verfügbar. Das kam selten vor an meinem Küchentisch. Es hat mich gefreut, wie lange sie dabeigeblieben ist. Zum Schluss wollte sie eine Zeichnung davon machen. Die Lebensgefährtin musste warten, bis der Adler fertig war. Ich habe ausnahmsweise nicht auf die Uhr gezeigt.
